SuperBooks is one of our own products: AI bookkeeping and accounting software for small businesses, now in beta. Connect a bank account and transactions are categorized and matched for you, so the books keep up without someone reconciling them by hand.
It started as a fork of Midday, an open-source business app, and since March 2026 we have been replacing it module by module with our own code.
Bank connections run through Plaid. Each transaction is categorized with AI, and a matching engine suggests the receipt or invoice it belongs to. A golden dataset of matching cases runs in the test suite, so a drop in matching quality shows up before it ships.
Receipts arrive through an inbox that collects documents from Gmail and Outlook, and multi-currency accounts are handled with stored exchange rates.
SuperBooks also sends invoices, including recurring ones, and syncs with QuickBooks, Xero and Fortnox. Wave users can bring their transaction history across with a built-in CSV importer.
For developers there is a documented API with TypeScript and Python SDKs, and an MCP server lets AI assistants work with the books directly.
SuperBooks is a Turborepo monorepo: a Next.js web app with a tRPC API and Prisma, Mastra and the Vercel AI SDK behind the AI features, and Stripe for billing. It is also available as an Android app on Google Play.
Since the project moved to our organization in March 2026, we have shipped it through 330+ merged pull requests.
